What VISOR Covers in Marion County
Oregon now calls its statewide service VISOR, short for Victim Information System in ORegon. Older Marion County materials and common searches may still use VINE or VINELink. Those are useful legacy terms, but they should lead to the current Oregon portal. Marion County VISOR Channel Map
The right companion source depends on who held the person. This matters greatly in Salem, where the county jail and several Oregon prisons operate near one another. A Marion County Jail booking is not an ODOC prison record. Likewise, an Oregon prison event is not documented by the county viewer. Federal and immigration agencies sit outside VISOR's Oregon county and state path.

VISOR excludes federal Bureau of Prisons custody and ICE detention. A federal locator result saying “Released” or “Not in BOP custody” speaks only to BOP custody. It does not rule out state custody, immigration detention, or federal supervision. The same source-specific caution applies to every VISOR event.

VISOR and Oregon Offender Search overlap, but they serve different purposes. VISOR is built around a person-specific status check and notification registration. VISOR accepts full or partial names, SID, or county ID and offers alerts tied to the selected record. Neither source is a certified permanent history.

A fully discharged person can disappear from OOS, while VISOR is not meant to preserve every past notice indefinitely. Confirm a Marion County Release
A VISOR notification is useful evidence of what the reporting agency sent. It may not name the final destination. If a county jail event matters, search the booking in Marion County Jail Viewer and read Actual Release Date apart from Scheduled Release Date and Location. A blank location has a special Transition Center meaning and should not be called community release. When destination matters, call the jail at 503-588-8595 or seek the booking and release sheet.
For a state prison event, use Oregon Offender Search. OOS covers people currently in ODOC custody or a local Community Corrections office, not a permanent history. Someone under supervision has been physically released but has not completed the full legal term. A fully discharged person may no longer appear, so an official ODOC record is the sound fallback.
Marion County VISOR Release Limits
VISOR data changes as participating agencies send updates. Oregon's sentence-recalculation material says certain qualifying DOC change notices are sent every two hours. That narrow statement is not a promise that every Marion County jail release reaches the system within two hours. Delays can occur, facilities can go offline, and the portal is not a certified release record. Never rely on an alert alone when immediate safety is at stake.
